Progress Report I

Image 1,2: An initial sketch model for a steel bridge concept.
The formal as well as structural qualities are based on massing and twisting for the sake of rigidity. This manner of growth for rigidity is found in human muscle structures as well as many plant types, in particular columnar cacti and monocotyledons (Design and Nature V, pg. 417) where branches grow off the central stem/trunk.
Image 3: The drawing depicts a conceptual connection detail for the skeletal framework that will support the steel cables that form the "strands" of the bridge.
